Pulp Functions is the much loved child of myself (Matt Symonds) and my wife Tracey. In late 2015 we sold our family business and had decided to leave Auckland and head to Tauranga. But with a great offer on the table we pulled out and made a last minute decision to stay and run something from home.
Tracey has an eye for contemporary and vintage finds and has lovingly collected items for up-cycling in the home for years, along with my bent for DIY projects we thought re-purposing a couple of old caravans for the event market would be fun for us both, something we could get stuck into and really love doing.
As you can see from the photos below the caravans were not in great shape to begin with but I can't deny that Tracey came up trumps with the two she uncovered to get us going. Both displaying ultimate hallmarks of their respected era's, 1940's for Vincent and 1960's for Honey Bunny we knew they would make great additions for any function, good vibes, great photo opportunities and the final detail to set the scene for a memorable day. Then came the work, and the work, and more work. Trying at times, but ultimately satisfying to see the results we achieved.
With years of customer service orientated businesses under our belts we have also leveraged the knowledge of friends and family who have had experience ranging from wedding venue ownership to simple bar work and have put together a truly unique package of products for Auckland's special events hire market. We look to continue to grow the inventory over the coming years so be sure to check back and see what project my wife has dug up for me next!
